Overview

 

Matt Carter is a marine archaeologist and the Research Director for the Major Projects Foundation.  He is an International Fellow of the Explorers Club, a vice president of the Australasian Institute for Maritime Archaeology, and the New Zealand representative on the ICOMOS International Committee on Underwater Cultural Heritage (ICUCH). Since 2006, Dr Matt Carter has worked on archaeological projects in 12 different countries ranging from excavating ancient shipwrecks in the Mediterranean to surveying World War Two wrecks in the Pacific. Having combined archaeological, commercial, and technical diving for over a decade, today Matt works to protect the marine ecosystems, cultures and livelihoods threatened by polluting shipwrecks in the Pacific.
